Dr. Michelle Croston

Dr. Michelle Croston is an HIV Specialist Nurse, psychosexual therapist, and Compassion Focused Therapy practitioner with extensive experience in trauma and mental health within HIV care. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to improving psychological wellbeing, and she brings a rich blend of clinical, academic, and therapeutic expertise to every setting. She has co-edited three books on psychological care and serves as an Associate Professor, where her research explores innovative approaches to emotional support through self-compassion, poetry, and writing for wellbeing.

Dr. Croston’s therapeutic approach integrates Compassion Focused Therapy with psychosexual therapy, and she is dedicated to creating compassionate and trauma-informed environments for healing. Alongside her clinical and academic work, she has been immersed in yoga since 2010, first drawn to its restorative potential following martial arts injuries. This path led her to train in hatha yoga, yin yoga, somatic therapy, trauma-sensitive yoga, and more recently, kundalini yoga.

As a registered nurse, crisis counsellor, therapist, and yoga educator, Dr. Croston weaves evidence-based psychological practices with embodied approaches that support whole-person wellbeing. Her work reflects a commitment to resilience, self-compassion, and the integration of mind and body for individuals and communities.
